Wajir County’s 2027 senatorial frontrunner, Adan Kasim Farah, has called on the Somali community living in Mombasa to rally behind President William Ruto’s bid for a second term, citing inclusive governance and tangible development in northern Kenya. He made the remarks during a high-profile wedding ceremony held in Mombasa.
Mr. Adan Kasim, the Chief Principal of Wajir High Secondary School, led his family from Wajir County to Mombasa County for the wedding of his late brother’s son, Engineer Adan Bulle, popularly known as Khalid Adan Bulle. The colourful Nikah ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering that included representatives from the Chief Khadhi’s office, senior government officials, educationists, parastatal executives, business leaders, and members of the Fourth Estate.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Adan Kasim urged members of the Somali community in Mombasa to uphold peace, unity, and coexistence among communities living in the coastal city. He emphasized that Kenya remains a democratic state founded on constitutional values and is a respected member of the United Nations, where harmony and mutual respect are central to national stability.
The seasoned educationist and political analyst praised President William Ruto’s administration for its deliberate efforts to uplift historically marginalized regions, particularly northern Kenya. He pointed to key infrastructure projects such as the ongoing Modogashe–Mandera road as a clear sign of government commitment to regional integration and economic growth. He further noted that the Somali community has been well represented in government appointments, including Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, diplomats, board members, and commissioners.
In his remarks, Mr. Adan Kasim highlighted the significant contribution of the Somali community to Kenya’s economy, describing it as a driving force behind a “24-hour economy” fueled by trade, entrepreneurship, and cross-border commerce. He encouraged the community to remain focused on business development and national economic growth as a pathway to shared prosperity.
Separately addressing the press, the Wajir senatorial hopeful appealed to Wajir-based voters residing in Mombasa to support his 2027 Senate bid. He revealed plans to officially launch his campaign in mid-2026, promising a comprehensive and people-centered manifesto aimed at safeguarding the county’s interests.
Mr. Adan Kasim concluded by emphasizing the need for mature, principled, and corruption-free leadership at the Senate, stating that Wajir County deserves a seasoned elder capable of protecting public resources and championing accountable governance. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people with integrity, vision, and unwavering dedication to development.
