The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) on 29th September 2025.
This is not just an announcement. It is a call to action especially for the people of Wajir County. Every registered voter adds strength to the county’s voice and ensures that the region is not left behind in national decision-making.
With the 2027 General Election on the horizon, Wajir cannot afford low registration numbers, which in the past have weakened Northern Kenya’s influence.
This time, the story must change. Thousands of young people in Wajir are turning 18 and gaining the right to vote. This generation must rise to the challenge and register in large numbers, alongside all citizens who have not yet registered or need to update their details.
Mass mobilisation is the pathway to success. Leaders, elders, and religious figures must encourage their people to take part. Youth groups and civil society organisations should spread awareness in every sub-county from towns to remote villages using mosques, schools, markets, and social gatherings to reach all eligible voters. Women, who often face barriers in registration, must also be supported to ensure they are fully represented.
Registering to vote is more than a constitutional right but an act of responsibility and empowerment.
For Wajir, it is about securing fair representation, gaining stronger bargaining power, and shaping the future of both the county and the nation.
Your Vote is Your Future. The time to register is now.
Hon Wardere
