North Eastern Region leaders led by the Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji have welcomed the friendly gesture President Kenyatta showed them by retaining Aden Duale as Leader of Majority in Parliament.
Sen Haji who is also the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) chairman led the leaders in a joint press conference to thank President Kenyatta for showing confidence in Garissa township MP to remain as Leader of the Majority Party in the National Assembly.
The press conference was attended by senators, MPs and other leaders from the defunct North Eastern Province (NEP).
Senator Haji said “We are really greatful to President Kenyatta for showing confidence with Duale who is serving his seventh year in the office of the Leader of Majority”.
The Garissa senator said that NEP leaders are loyal to Jubliee party led by Party Leader President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Haji assured the President that Leaders in the region are fully behind his agenda particularly the implementation of the big 4 agenda.
The NEP leaders rallied behind Duale as the Leader of Majority Party in the National Assembly.
Some leaders said Duale has served diligently the interests of the Somali Community not only in the August House, but outside and the diaspora. Leaders promised to remain loyal to Jubliee party and president Kenyatta’s legacy projects.
Other leaders who spoke during the press conference included Senators Mohamed Muhamud (Mandera) and Dr Abdullahi Ali commonly referred as Kabreta (Wajir).
