Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi gets state of the art equipment to combat Covid-19

The World is on the spot light with Coronavirus pandemic cases now reaching 1,622,049 and 97,192 deaths. However good news is that 366,302 have so far recovered as per today’s records.

in Kenya Health CS Mutahi Kagwe is taking no chances in addressing Covid-19 while Wajir Governor H.E Ambassador Mohamed Abdi Mohamud has not been left behind as he puts his Administration on full alert to address the pandemic.

The Governor yesterday held a press conference where he briefed members of the fouth estate on measures he has put in place to address Covid-19. He assured the Wajir people that his administration is on high alert having shifted his gears to the fight against the pandemic at the expense of other development agenda.

In his detailed statement to the press at his office, the Governor disclosed the Medical equipment and other requirements that have been procured as part of his preparedness to address Covid-19:

1. Seven ICU Beds

2. Seven ventilators for the ICU Beds

3. Step down transformers to reduce power voltage to the required standard;

4. Six bedside oxygen monitors

5. Two cardiac monitors;

6. 100 Hospital Beds;

7. 1000 Hand sanitizers;

8. Face masks;

9. 50 Thermo guns;

10. 150 Handwashing facilities;

11.60 Spray pumps;

12.140 pairs Gumboots;

13. Aprons;

14. 420 litres hand sanitizers donated by Kenya Pipeline

Other activities so far done which the governor cited include;

– Fumigation of Wajir Town and Leheley, while it will continue tonight at different parts of the town centre e.g Baraza Park, Old Mosque, Griftu Stage and other areas.

-Training of Sub-County health personnel on Covid-19 response;

-Community sensitisation exercise through radio and public address systems;

-Established Isolation wards at the Referral Hospital and Sub counties Health Centres;

-Established Quarantine centres e.g KMTC and Wajir Girls Secondary;

-Screening of 4,634 travelers.

“I would like to thank our health workers, security team and all others who are in the frontline to battle this Coronavirus”, the Governor said.

Governor Abdi also appreciated supplies which his Governnent had received among them two-forty feet containers of Assorted Medical Supplies and School Bags donated by United Muslim for Relief and Development (UMRD) valued at Ksh208 Million. The amount is broken down to Ksh 200 Million for the Medical Supplies and Ksh 8 Million for the school bags.

He said the pharmaceutical supplies consist of drugs for the treatment of cancer, eyes, respiratory, diabetics and cardiovascular conditions among others.

The non-pharmaceuticals, he said include wheel chairs, facial masks, gloves sanitizers and other assorted supplies that are quite useful and on demand in the prevention and control of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

Wajir County Government now joins other Counties which have put full attention to the fight against Covid-19 and Governor Mohamed Abdi is determined to conquer the disease.
