Wajir Governor Ambassador Mohammed Abdi tells Wajir Religious leaders to count on his support for religious affairs.

It was a meeting of its kind as Governor Ambassador Mohamed Abdi met Wajir religious leaders. It took place Monday and lasted many hours as Governor cancelled all his sheduled engagement to devote enough time with the Muslim Clerics as they discussed many religious issues.

The Governor approved all the issues and requests made to him by the religious leaders including fighting drug abuse substances, radicalization and prostitution.

The Governor assured the religious leaders that the government will look for a new burial site, building sanitation sites for Mosques and religious institutions.

The top religious leaders who met the Governor were led by the Supkem Regional Coordinator for North Eastern Province Dr Adan Yunis , Council of Imams and preachers of Kenya chairperson Abdi Farah and other top religious leaders across the Wajir County.

In his remarks Dr Adan Yunis said the religious leaders are up to the task to ensure all vices like drug abuse will be eradicated in the County with the help of National Government.

The Governor said his administration will ensure that all the proposals made by the Muslim Clerics are given first priority in the implementation.

On the New Cemetery Governor Ambassador Mohammed Abdi said the government must find a new site for the Cemetery with speed and have the old one fenced.

The religious leaders had high hope of relief from Wajir County after the administration of Governor Ambassador Mohamed Abdi fully promised to work with them since they are important stakeholders in the County.

The Governor’s determination to work with the religious leaders will go a long way to create harmony and peaceful coexistence among different sub clans in county. The promise by Governor Ambassador Mohammed Abdi to work with religious leaders to end radicalization and drug abuse.

At the end of the meeting the Governor donated several copies of Holy Quran which will be distributed to mosques and Madrasas.
