Wajir East MP Upbeat over Security in Somalia border, thanks KDF

Wajir East Member of Parliament Rashid Kasim Amin has initiated a three-day Security sensitisation exercise along Kenya-Somalia border with a Company with Security apparatus in an effort to eradicate Al-shabaab terror group in the area.The program was led by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Commamder Eastern Brigade.

The MP who led the team first visited Konton and Korofharar where they held talks with the members of the Public during the Security Sensation program to persuade them against cooperating or associating with members of the Al-shabab terror group since Wajir east borders with Somalia.

Speaking to Members of the fourth Estate Friday morning at Wajir Palace hotel the MP supported President Kenyatta and KDF for engaging in a combative move to fight Al Shabaab. He hailed the work of KDF and fully thanked the Comander of all armed forces for securing the country’s borders despite the terror gang using poor fighting tactics such as Improvised Explosive Devises (IED) method which has left Kenyans killed or maimed.
“I take this opportunity to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces for vowing not to relent in the fight against Al-shabaab”, he said.

The MP is seen on the front line in the fight against terror groups and works with the security team since Wajir east is the heart of Wajir County.

The Security Sensetisation exercise comes in the wake of recent incident when suspected Al-shabaab militants abducted three personnel who were constructing a road between Riba and Konton. The fate of the three is unknown todate, but the MP said Kenya security agents were fully alert and on the task to trace them.

In his address to the members of the public the Lawmaker urged them to fight any Intruders who pose any threat to the national security and work with the security team for their safety. He assured them the government of Kenya will keep Confidential any information they share with security officers in the fight against Al-shabaab.

Mr Amin who gave a detailed account of Alshabab cited the dirty tactics the gang was using in their terror attacks which he described as guerilla fighting using IED bombs as well as hit and run methods.

The the Security Sensetisation Exercise in the fight against Al-shabaab which the MP has initiated in conjunction with KDF is seen as major breakthrough in the fight against terror. And for it to succeeds needs support of all area residents and the MP is confident that the fight will bear fruits. He has urged for cooperation with members of the public.
