‘Titanic’ Project Plans in 2020/2021 FY, Governor Mohamud assures

Wajir Governor Amb. Mohamed Abdi yesterday hinted of his plans in the 2020/2021 financial year budget before being forwarded to the County Assembly for approval.

He said the Statement captures the needs and challenges to be financially tackled within the 30 wards in the County.

The Governor’s plan for 2020/2021 FY is boldly prepared to boost the development in the county. The Governor aims at showcasing his biggest legacy in this financial year to fulfil his campaign pledges and his 2022 re-election bid.

Sources privy to the document and who spoke to ARF Media group confirmed the Governor has given lion share of the budget this financial year towards Health, Water, Roads and Agriculture. A senior financial consultant who has also seen the draf budget said it will go into making the biggest legacy for Governor Mohamud.

Ward based Projects which has become the Governor’s biggest legacy in implementing county projects, plays a key role again in this financial year seen as a better way in channeling development to reach the grassroots.

The Governor said “We need to ensure a better service delivery than before and I promise to ensure that our people get better Service this financial year”.

Speaking from ICT hall, when he convened a consultative meeting between the Members of executive and the county Assembly members, the Governor said the stalemate that had delayed the Senate in agreeing the formula to allocate funds to the counties has been resolved and therefore money will be released soon.

He regretted that the delay had negatively affected the operations in the counties, but aplauded the Senators for breaking the stalemate before the situation worsened.

Governor Mohamud said he was now ready to roll out project implementation funded this financial year soon money from National treasury starts trickling down to the counties.

He challenged members of the county Assembly to move with speed to debate and approve 2020/2021 budget proposals when it reaches them so that work of financing and implementation of projects can start.
