RK declares NEP leaders’ support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s war on terror

The Wajir East Member of Parliament Rashid Kassim Amin has shown strong Interest in spearheading sensetisation among the locals to Counter Violence Extremism.

This came out when he utlined resolutions arrived at after holding a meeting with Elders, Religious leaders, Security apparatus, Youth and women.

Speaking to different forums the MP took issue with terror attacks by Al-shabaab saying it was threatening the National security. To address the menace, the MP called for collaboration between the National Government, the County Government and members of the Public.

RK said Security team alone, cannot succeed in fighting terror, but needs locals to cooperate with them if the vice is to be eradicated.

The security threat posed by Al-shabaab has forced the MP to camp in Wajir County since Thursday.

The region has witnessed loss of lives, with others being maimed while property destroyed by the militia gang.

In a series of sensetisation programs, yesterday marked the climax as the MP was hosted by members of the Muslim Clerics.

In commenting the meeting, the MP said “Local citizens must come out clean and show willingness as a show of patriotism in the fight against this extremism team”.

Rk told the Sheiks that in their capacity as religious leaders they have a responsibility to talk in the mosques and take a case study during the Friday sermons to enlighten folks on the negative effects brought by terrorism.

RK hinted of a deliberate move by suspected Al-shabaab to divide Kenyans on religious lines. He however said that should not happen telling members of Islam to maintain their obligation of being a peaceful religion that will not allow to be used to kill or destroy members of other religion.

The MP urged the communites that live across the border to work with the Security agencies to restore peace.

Speaking to media yesterday at Raha Palace hotel RK hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s determination to defend this nation. He said the President made a bold move to send Kenya Defence Force (KDF) troops to pursue members of Al-shabaab across the border. “President Kenyatta’s resolve to fight this war is a way to show that he has taken it upon himself to guarantee the security of all Kenyans”, he said.

The MP urged members of the local community to invest in nyumba Kumi initiative and ensure they know each other from village level to the town.

He also recommended that chiefs stays in their stations and cooperate with the locals by sharing any intelligence with the Security teams to fight Al-shabaab.

RK has made a mark in his determination to sensetise the locals on eradicating terror groups in Wajir.

The MP who is optimistic that his agenda will bear fruit will use it to build his political legacy.
