The Sixth BBI National Sensetisation Forum ended successfully yesterday in NEP Region during a rally in Garissa County 007.

Former Prime Minister Rt Honourable Raila Odinga was the chief Guest flanked by Governors, MPs and Senators. Treasury CS Ambassador Ukur Yattani also graced the occasion.

Wajir East MP Rashid Kassim Amin in his speech during the rally threw his weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) agenda birthed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Rt Honourable Raila Odinga during the famous March 9, 2018 ‘handshake’.

RK as the MP is commonly referred said, “First as NEP Region we want an expanded Executive and we are sure people in the region will be part and percel in the new political dispensation that are shared by the big tribes in Kenya”.

He described the move to create the positions of Prime Minister, two deputies in addition to President and deputy as what Kenyans’ are aspiring for in the so called Inclusivity in the National positions.

RK also pushed for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to be under the Ministry of Education by having it disbanded as an independent commission to address cartels in teaching profession.

RK condemned in the strongest terms possible TSC CEO Nancy Macharia for removing all non-local teachers from the NEP counties. He termed the commission’s decision as segregation, xenophobia and incompetencey of the hightest level.

On matters of historical Injustices, the MP condemned the Wagalla Masacare which happened in wajir,Mandera and Garissa Counties.

“We the People of Northern Kenya should be compensated for that historical Injustices”, he said.

The Lawmaker also pushed to have the road between Garissa through Mandera improved and modernized as an agenda on matters of development and the fight against terror threats orchestrated by terror Groups.

RK appealed to the BBI taskforce team headed by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji to consider all the recommendations submitted on behalf of the people of NEP Region and have them captured in the final BBI report.

RK’s aggressive and vocal push for the people of NEP to be recognised in all spheres of life has earned him a major following in the region. This is becoming part of his legacy a head of 2022 general elections.
