ODM’s Jimal Abdi Hassan resoundingly wins Batalu ward By-Election

Jimal Abdi Hassan of ODM is the new MCA-elect for Batalu ward, Wajir North, following the conclusion of the vote counting in the long and eagerly awaited By-Election.

Jimal as he is commonly referred carried the day with 1,647 votes against his competitor Adan Ibrahim Idho who trailed by garnering 1,067 votes. There are 4,690 Registered voters and vote cast was 2,724 which is 58.08% Voter tournout.

Jimal was leading in all the polling stations with a big margin against his competitor who trailed far behind.

Speaking to ARF Media via phone conversation Jimal said “The Batalu ward people have decided finally by voting for me overwhelmingly and I have accepted the confidence they have in me from day one. I feel honour. Thank you Batalu electorate”.

Jimal paid a growing tribute to those who were spearheading his campaigns especially the campaign secretariat. He also thanked his supporters and those who voted for his opponent.

Jimal said his victory belongs to Batalu ward People and pledged to diligently work for them with commitment.

Jimal at the same time thanked his competitor for campaigning peacefully and assured him that he will work with him to bring forward development and harmony of the people in the ward.

The Batalu ward seat was sealed for ODM after Jimal’s candidature was endorsed by Party Leader and former Prime Minister Rt Hon Raila Odinga as well as leaders from Wajir North Constituency.

And today the party is celebrating the win by Jimal Abdi Hassan who fought a court battle up to the Supreme Court after he felt he was cheated and denied his win during 2017 general election.
