North Horr MP Chachu Ganya ranked the best performing among lawmakers within the Pastoralists Communities.

The North Horr Member of Parliament Chachu Ganya who is serving his third term in the August House has been ranked the best lawmaker within the pastoralists communities due to his unique investment in the Education Sector in his Constituency.

The MP’s determination to promote education was given a major boost when he first established a Non-Governmental Organisation called Chalbi Scholars Organisation in 2003 with the main goal of funding education through Secondary, to tertiary colleges and university. And now 16 years down the line, the NGO has sponsored full education of many students not only in North Horr Constituency, but across Marsabit County.

The students who have benefited from the Organisation are many and have formed an alumni through the guidance of Hon Chachu Ganya to assist other needy cases of learner’s.
Currently the Organisation is supporting more than 400 students drawn from across Marsabit County.

In August this year the Chalbi Organisation had its Anual General Meeting which was held at Kalacha town North Horr Constituency bringing together beneficiaries, alumni members, professionals and parents.

Through this initiative Hon Chachu Ganya has earned the biggest legacy that has seen him crowned as the best Mp to invest in Education among the Pastoralists Lawmakers.

The Mp was prompted to start this initiative because of the status of his community whose 100% are pastoralists depending on livestock as their source of income.

Before he started the education initiative only a few people went to school, while early marriage was high. People initially never believed in Education, but through the Chalbi Scholars Organisation the Mp has saved many students who now have a vision but previously could have dropped out of school because of school feels. Many young girls who could have been married today are saved and rescued to continue with their education now with a bright future.

The North Horr Constituency elders, professionals and the public at large have a big confidence on their Mp and that is why they have elected him for three consecutive terms.

North Horr Constituency is now a show case as now every child has go to school and parents have less to worry about since they have elected a man who have their interests at heart.

Other than the NGO, the Mp gives a priority to Education through the National Government-Constitueny Development Fund (NG-CDF) by ensuring that bursary funds are equally distributed at the same time considering the vulnerable students and those with disabilities.

Since the Organisation was started many students have benefitted and today have joined Alumni of Chalbi Scholars after successfully completing studies in universities and now working in different professionals in Kenya. They are grateful to their Mp for being behind success in their life.

The professional have now joined the locals of North Horr Constituency to support the education initiative as well as other development projects being implemented by their MP. This has earned Hon Chachu Ganya a strong confidence from his constituents who are happy with his commitment to education which has become a vital developmental tool for the community.

Hon Chachu Ganya has made a breakthrough in promoting education not only in his Constituency, but Marsabit County in general.
