Khorof Harar District Commissioned as RK reaps mileage

It was a day like no other in wajir east Constituency as services were brought closer to the people with the commissioning of a new district.

Area member of Parliament Rashid Kasim Amin led a heavy convoy of cars whose entourage included wajir county commissioner Mr Jacob Narengo headed to Khorof harar sub county that had earlier been gazzetted as a new administrative unit.

The event was marked with pomp and dance as the MP commissioned the new district. As the chief guest, the lawmaker introduced the deputy county commissioner Mr Ibrahim Kiarie muchangi to the people.

Singing of the national anthem signified national unity and was the first in the programme before the new district was launched.

The faces of the locals were all smiles following the birth of new administrative unit which they had waited for long.

During the campaigns ahead of 2017 general elections one of the pledges Mr Kasim commonly refered as Rk made was to bring a new district named Khorof harar. The residents welcomed the new district terming it as fruits that they will enjoy courtesy of their mp.

Rk handed over the instruments of administration which included the kenyan crown, the national flag and presendential image to the new DCC as ululation and dance took centre stage from happy residents.

Rk said the sub-county administration will be responsible for the coordination, management and supervision of the general administrative functions in the unit, including developmental activities. This will empower the community in all spheres of life and enhance collection of revenue, the MP added.

The sub-county will perform essential administrative functions such as registering voters, supervising elections, keeping records, providing police protection, and administrating health and welfare services.

The new administrative unit will also lead to economic development initiatives, community development and employment Creation.

The new deputy county commissioner Mr Ibrahim Kiarie said “I pledge to serve as a true civil servant and abide to serve the locals in all the services they deserve from the national government”.

The Mp Rashid Kasim Amin the first time MP who is the only lawmaker in NFD in the forefront in the war against terror is seen as honest in his determination to deliver service to the people.

The MP vowed to the locals his efforts with security team led by interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi and Commamder-in- chief of defence forces who is President Uhuru Kenyatta on their mission to flash out terror Groups acrross the NEP Region.

The MP also urged the locals to work with the Security team to ensure the pledge of keeping terror attacks at bay.
