Three years in office, Wajir Governor Amb. Mohamed Abdi Mohamud in person and his Leadership has justified himself as a peaceful administrator. He has made the County residents and the cross border communites live in peacefully.
In recent activities the Governor led in peace initiative among them the famous Peace Mission that resolved the Wajir-Marsabit border and Wajir-Gedo border disputes.
This has shown his commitment to different border peace talks which has resulted to ceasefire and peace among communities living along the volatile borders.
Through the Governor’s determination the communities have penned peace agreements to live in peace.
When he adressed the Peace Mission among the protagonists of the Wajir-Gedo border peace talks the Governor said ” In this 21st Century, Community wars is an outdated culture and with Devolution, in NFD Region we need to develop our Counties. That should be our priority”.
Governor Mohamed Abdi’s Political career has been successful since he was first elected as Wajir East member of Parliament. He later served as Assistant Minister, Cabinet Minister, Kenya’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and now Wajir Governor.
These differed leadership positions saw him serve diligently where he received applause from many Kenyans and others locally and Internationally. And now as Wajir Governor he has won a new tag as an Icon of peace.
When he took power after the August 2017 General Election as the Second Governor, Peaceful co-existence among different Communities across the county was his major priority. He emphasized peaceful coexistence among Communities will make it possible for development agenda to succeed through Ward- based projects.
Mr Abdullahi Gabane and Mrs Fatuma Jelle both residents of Wajir County who spoke to ARF Media said Governor Mohamed Abdi has become well known as a Peace Ambassador. He has consequently vowed not to entertain communities who engage in war under his Leadership. In different Leadership capacities he has held in Kenya, Peace has always remained his defining moment.
Mrs Fatuma further added that the Governor is accessible and reachable both via phone conversation and even in the office compared to any other Governor across the Nep Region.
“The Governor has even employed Public Relations and humanity at heart in his service to the electorates” Fatuma added.
Locals view Governor Mohamed Abdi as an elder, Peace Icon, Development Oriented, Peace maker, Mediator and a man who serves his nation as a patriotic citizen.
Wearing different hats in Leadership, Amb. Mohamed Abdi has made Wajir among the peaceful and fasted developing Counties.
