Governor Mohamed Abdi Meets Cabinet, Lays Bold 2020 agenda for Wajir

Wajir Governor HE Ambassador Mohamed Abdi Mohamud today Chaired the first Cabinet Meeting this year at ICT hall, Wajir town to discuss the way forward with development agenda taking the centre stage.

The closed door Cabinet meeting lasted for six hours with only CECMs, CCOs, CPSB and CEOs in attendance.

Inside the hall sources hinted to the Media that business was not usual as the Governor outlined new strategies directed at his executive to work for the people of Wajir County.

The Governor chaired the Cabinet after arriving back from spending the holy period in the Holy Place where he performed Umrah.

And his entry in the corridors of County Government administration today was ushered by the Cabinet Meeting which meant to plan for the New year. Development was the main agenda despite the governor being briefed by the Cabinet on what happened while he was out of the country.

The invasion by the Desert Locust recently in
some parts of the County was also given first priority with those in the meeting citing it is a Nationl disaster. During the incident the National government engaged in aerial spraying jointly with the County Government to route the pests out of the County.

The Cabinet welcomed the joint venture where County Government through the Department of Agriculture worked with the National Governnent to address the menace.

Other Departments also briefed the Governor on their achievements while he was away.

The marathon Cabinet Meeting ended at 7pm and a close confidant of the Governor who spoke to ARF Media Group gave the inside of what was discussed.

“The Governor was very serious stating that this new year attention will be towards development so that the executive fulfils his campaign pledges”, said the confidant who declined to be named.

He further confirmed the Governor directed the Cabinet to reach the grassroots so that development spreads in all levels.

On matters of Corruption, the source disclosed the Governor declared that he will not tolerate any individual found engaged in graft. “Those involved in corruption will have to carry their own cross”, he said adding the Governor explained the war on graft giving example of how President Uhuru Kenyatta regime is fighting the vice.

The Governor reportedly told the Cabinet that this year his administration is planning to launch mega projects that will build his legacy and development scorecard.

Governor Ambassador Mohamed Abdi appears determined to push a head with development within Wajir County, whose success will see him build a fundamental legacy. His mood today spoke thousands and therefore, the Cabinet has to take the cue to avoid embarrassing him.
