Garre clan in wajir seeks greater voice with unity pact ahead of 2022 elections

As the 2022 general elections nears communities are grouping vouching for unity to vote as a block. they are also seeking realignment with other communities for power sharing.

Garre Community in wajir county has agreed to unite as a community to avoid division ahead of electioneering period.

A two day meeting the community held at Danaba town which was attended by Professionals, elders, businessmen, Opinion leaders and technocrats discussed various topics that is vital to Community’s unity.

The brain behind the meeting was members from the elite in the community led by the Dr Adan Khalif.

The first agenda of the forum was unity ahead of 2022. the Community’s stakeholders agreed unanimously to speak in one voice come 2022.

The Community resolved to support any political lineup that will serve their interests as a community.

The second agenda that the community discussed in lenghth was plans to increase the number of voters through voter registration. In 2017 the voters who registered in danaba was 3500 and now before 2022 the community target to register 5,000 voters.

The community further agreed to rate the scorecard of the Leadership both in the county and national government basing on the development they invested to benefit the community between 2017-2022.

The community has benifited from Governor of Wajir Mohamed Abdi Mohamud administration through Ward based Projects. The initiative is the only Ward based Projects the Governor pioneered out of other 47 Governors in Kenya.

The community commended the administration of Governor Mohamud for appointing several from them who include one chief Officer, Directors and other permanent members of staff.

The unity deal of Community is sending a red signal to elected leaders to invest on projects benefiting the Community before 2022 that will see vote as a block to pay back to the leaders.

Dr Adan Khalif who is the deputy director of health and who engineered the convening of the meeting said “We have sensitised the Community about Covid-19. ” Covid-19 is real and has coused deaths as well as economic destructions Globally. Let’s stick to Ministry of Health (MOH) rules”.
