Duale: Parliament is ready to be recalled back to pass any legislation to save the economy amid Covid-19 Pandemic

The leader of the Majority Party in the National Assembly Aden Duale warned Wednesday that the Coronavirus pandemic other than claiming lives grobally has also grounded all sectors.

Duale welcomed the Government’s latest intervention to allocate 10bn to aide the elderly, orphans and disadvantaged people in the Community to cushion them from Coronavirus pandemic.

On his official Facebook Page, Duale posted “Our economy is literally driven by SME’s that absorb most of the workforce and any disruption shall have a major negative impact on the economy”.

He however allayed fears saying the National Assembly is ready to be recalled back to facilitate any legislative proposal towards saving the economy from total collapse.

Duale said most of the Powerful Nations in the world have set stimulus packages to revive their respective economies following the negative effects occasioned by Covid-19 disaster outbreak.

Duale also proposed to the Banks to consider waving interest on all commercial loans in the face of current tough economic times SME people and vulnerable people in the Community are going through.

The Legislator also hinted that Members of Parliament are ready to resume sitting should they be recalled to legislate to save the economic decline to rescue the vulnerable Kenyans who strain to put food on the table.

On donor institutions like World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), Duale requested them to intervene and offer affected Countries rescue packages.

On Social Security Duale urged the Government to place strategies in place to provide food, water and soap to Kenyans who are living in low-income status.

Duale’s initiative of propelling Government’s agenda in the National Assembly as well as being a vocal point in defending President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto has earned admiration from politicians. He has also used the same to build a legacy as a National leader.
