Anab Subow plots stab for Fafi MP seat, gets elders’ boost

Garissa Women Rep Anab Subow Gure has declared her interest in the Fafi parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2022 general elections. The first time lawmaker is banking on her effective utilisation of the National Govt Affirmative Action Fund, which has seen many projects implemented over the last four years.

After she declared her interest for the seat elders came calling and endorsed her candidature.

Anab hails from Abudwaq, Rer Harun Sub-Clan and elders play a major political stab on the success of those contesting.

Anab has matured politically as a powerful lawmaker and ‘deep state’ in Garissa politics will fight hard to recapture the seat that is currently represent by Abdikarim Osman Mohamed of Kanu.

Anab has been vocal since she entered in politics and her declaration to contest a parliamentary seat in next year’s General Elections has complicated the matter as she is allied to the second in command Dr William Samoi Ruto. Her win will go in history books as first Woman MP for Fafi. She will also become the second female elected MP in Northern Frontier District (NFD) region.

Arf Media group has learned that Anab Subow has initiated and implemented a lot of successful projects in Garissa county which have boosted the area economically. In Education sector through bursary Kits Ms Anab has enabled needy students benefit.

Anab brags among the women MPs who pump millions of shillings in the bursary fund in NFD region.

In supporting people doing business through SME, the MP has heavily invested in the sector. She has supported youth groups, people living with disability, women and elderly persons.

Anab, a soft spoken, religiously moral and down to earth person is ever busy working to erase the culture of male dominance politics in the region.

In a phone interview with Anab she said, “My mission is to change the image of Fafi constituency which I understand better than any other person, period”.

The Lawmaker who has developed political muscle is now the talk in the town after she launched her political bid for Fafi seat.

Last week the MP launched the annual bursary kitty through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) in Galmagala secondary school.

“Our bursary kitty for this year is 14.6 million shillings covering the fees of 1900 students from colleges and secondary schools”, she said while unveiling the fund.

Anab Subow Gure is determined to become second to Sophia Abdi Noor who became the first woman from North Eastern to be elected to Parliament.
