Ahmed Abdisalan: Results of the 2019 KNBS population census unacceptable, we will challenge them in court

The BBI NEP Region chapter which was held yesterday brought together different leaders from across the political divide led by ODM party leader Raila Odinga, Governors, Senators and Members of Parliament.

The climax of the mammoth rally in Garissa Township was the submission of a memorandum outlining issues leaders and other stakeholders from the region want addressed when BBI finally prepares its report.

Wajir North MP Ahmed Abdisalan in his address to the gathering made a bold speech directly touching on Education crisis in NEP Region and the controversial 2019 census results which area leaders have rejected.

The MP expressed concern with Teachers Service Commission (TSC) which he accused of failing on its role as is enshrined in article 237 of the Kenyan Constitution. He castigated the Commission for paralysing learning in the region by withdrawing teachers in the area under the guise of security threats. Mr Abdisalan said the TSC Act should be amended to have it disbanded from being an independent commission and be placed under the Ministry of Education.

On 2019 census, the outspoken MP said “The Digital genocide conducted by Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) under the name of Population census in NEP is unacceptable and we will challenged it in court”.

In his introductory remarks the Mp declared that the BBI train which he said had left station was unstoppable. He said through BBI, Kenya will be united as a country stating that bloodshed which had become perennial in every general election will now be a thing of the past.

He said the BBI fruit was cemented after President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed a son from NEP, Ambassador Ukur Yatani as Treasury Cabinet Secretary. He thanked the president for the appointment and assured the Head of State the people of the region will reciprocate by supporting his government since he had shown faith with Northern Frontier District people.

The MP confirmed that the road between Nairobi to Moyale was built under the courtesy of Rt Honourable Raila Odinga which he noted has opened up business for the people of Northern Kenya.

The MP has won the accolades of the people of Northern Kenya and the Country at large for playing the role of sole ODM legislator in Wajir County. His political image has further been propelled through BBI National Sensetisation Forums.
